Mr. Nadler, What is your perspective on who the Palestinians are: i.e. their heritage or background. Why do they believe they have a right to
Israel?*
A. Shalom George & Sonia, Prior to 1967 there were technically no “Palestinians”.
These people lived peacefully in the 'West Bank' (which was under Jordanian
occupation, and in Gaza, which at that time was under Egyptian control) and were basically your ‘garden variety’ Arabs. After the Six Day War, Yasir Arafat established the terrorist organization
‘PLO’, and would eventually give definition to a variety of Arab peoples
who lived in those areas and were displaced by war. Though Israel has on many occasions invited them all to return to the West Bank, the
PLO (and now the Palestinian
Authority) has maintained the terrible refugee camp structure
in Israel and in Lebanon for their own political agenda. They insist that
"the Palestinian people will live in the refugee camps until Israel gives them back their homeland!"
Sadly, the camps are is a breeding ground for resentment and terrorism. The
