David, a man after God’s own heart,
points out exactly how to have all our desires fulfilled and where our
true delight is to be found. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the
Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” I feel blessed
that we could publish the discipleship material for women, and it seems
to be like those five loaves and two fishes that keep on multiplying.
Recently, I was invited to speak at the women’s retreat in Merritt
Island, Florida, as a result of the material taught in the book
Sense & Sensibility.
Debbie, who read the book, wanted other women to understand the purpose
and calling that God has for us women. Therefore, she stepped out in
faith and organized the women’s conference entitled
Sense & Sensibility—Honoring God with
Your Life.
But, on my way to Florida I had an additional blessing to visit and
minister at the sisterhood meeting of
Beth Shofar
Messianic congregation in Charleston area. It never ceases to amaze me
how sound teaching is always relevant and timely to encourage and build
up women in all seasons of their lives. In our day of age, when we are
bombarded with all kinds of demand and responsibilities, all of us can
use some encouragement and support.
Being His Bride
I would like to
remind women to see for themselves the way God sees them. Isaiah 61:10
accurately describes God’s view of us, “I will rejoice greatly in the
LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments
of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a
bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself
with her jewels.” We need a daily reminder of our new identity and
position in Messiah and to live accordingly.
The women’s conference in Merritt Island provided an
opportunity to teach five sessions that seem to flow as a beautiful
pattern of the way we can honor God with our lives, which is the only
life that has no regrets. In the first session, we laid the ground work
as we rediscovered our divine calling as women and our responsibility to
pass the baton of faith and necessity to live out God’s priorities for
our lives to the next generation.
Created For His
Divine Purpose
Often we think that our sole
responsibility is to be a good wife or mother, but God has planned much
more for us. He desires for all of us to grow in the knowledge of His
love, mature into Messiah-likeness, and allow our lives to reflect His
character. As we take a deeper look at the life of Hannah, we learn that
our circumstances do not dictate our fulfillment that we can find in God
alone. Hannah was able to pour her heart to the Lord and let Him work
through her despite of unbearable situations. She found her strength in
the Lord, and as she continually entrusted herself to her God, He not
only gave her the desire of her heart, but blessed her above her
expectations. She gave birth to Samuel, who was the last judge and a
prophet in Israel, and had a privilege to anoint the greatest king in
Israel, David. But, God did not stop there; he also gave her more
children. God took Hannah from being barren and ashamed, to the mother
of many children and esteemed. God can do the same for us.
One of the greatest highlights of the
Women’s Conference in Merritt Island, Florida, for me, was to teach a
group of women who were eager to learn and apply the Word to their
lives. Since we women are great communicators and enjoy sharing with one
another, I really enjoyed the discussion time after each teaching, which
gave an opportunity to dig deeper into our souls and apply the precepts
from the Word to our own lives and circumstances.
Encouraging Words
I was very encouraged by the feedback
from the leadership, “One
of the goals for us in having this conference was to have the women who
attend bond with each other on the deeper level, to develop stronger
relationships with one another. The discussion questions you provided
at the end of each teaching helped accomplish this by providing a
gateway for involvement as women were encouraged to share their
struggles and their needs within a Biblical perspective. Everyone I
spoke to came away uplifted and more confident in their understanding of
the Word. Our team commented on how we felt God’s blessing over the
entire time and we agreed that it was worth the effort.”
There is no greater privilege then to have a godly
influence in the lives of others. The time invested in others is time
well spent. I encourage you to seek not only to grow in the relationship
with your Beloved, but also to care and disciple other women in need of
encouragement. Y |
